Note for Employer


Employers looking to hire domestic helpers must meet the following criteria

a. The employer is financially capable of employing a Helper after his/her household expenditure has been deducted. In general, for every Helper to be employed, the employer must have a household income of no less than HK$15,000 per month or assets of comparable amount to support the employment of a Helper for the whole contractual period. The monthly household income figure of HK$15,000 may be adjusted by the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) from time to time.

b. The Helper and the employer shall enter into a standard Employment Contract (ID 407) as specified by the Director of Immigration.

c. The Helper shall only be required to perform domestic duties for the employer as per the Schedule of Accommodation and Domestic

d. The Helper shall not be required or allowed by the employer to take up any other employment with any other person during his/her stay in the HKSAR

e. The employer undertakes to pay the Helper a salary that is no less than the minimum allowable wage announced by the HKSAR Government

f. The Helper shall work and reside in the employer's residence only

g. The Helper shall be provided with suitable accommodation and with reasonable privacy

Required Documents for Domestic Helper Application Procedure

Employer’s Documents:

1. A copy of the employer's Hong Kong Identity Card.

2. Recent proof of address (dated within the last 3 months), such as:

· Water bill /  Electricity bill / Gas bill / Home phone bill / Rates bill  

· Note: Mobile bills are not acceptable

3. A copy of principal’s income proof.

4. One of the following financial statements:

· The latest annual salary tax return showing a total yearly salary of at least HK$180,000, or

· The most recent 3 months of salary payment records reflecting a monthly salary of no less than HK$15,000 (e.g., salary slips or bank statements showing incoming salary payments), or

· A bank deposit statement from the last 6 months with a balance of at least HK$350,000.

5. Family member details, including:

· Full name (as per HKID)

· Date of birth

· HKID number

6. Information about any current or former domestic helpers (if applicable), including:

· Full name (as per HKID/Passport)

· HKID number & Passport number

· Resignation date

Note: If the principal employer cannot provide financial evidence, the spouse's financial proof may be used, along with a marriage certificate to demonstrate the relationship.
